Public holidays in Austria 2012/13

On public holidays civil service departments and banks are closed, as well as most supermarkets and shops.

2012

  • 26 October 2012: Austrian National Day
  • 01 November 2012: All Saints' Day
  • 08 December 2012: Feast of the Immaculate Conception
  • 25 December 2012: Christmas Day
  • 26 December 2012: Boxing Day / St. Stephen's

2013

  • 01 January 2013: New Year
  • 06 January 2013: Epiphany / The Three Kings
  • 31 March – 1 April 2013: Catholic / Protestant Easter (Sunday and Monday)
  • 01 May 2013: Labour Day
  • 09 May 2013: Ascension Day (Thursday)
  • 19 – 20 May 2013: Whitsun / Pentecost (Sunday and Monday)
  • 30 May 2013: Feast of Corpus Christi (Thursday)
  • 15 August 2013: Assumption Day
  • 26 October 2013: Austrian National Day
  • 01 November 2013: All Saints' Day
  • 08 December 2013: Feast of the Immaculate Conception
  • 25 December 2013: Christmas Day
  • 26 December 2013: Boxing Day / St. Stephen's

As you can see public holidays are heavily influenced by important Catholic holidays.

 

School holidays

Summer Holidays:

July till September (beginning and end vary a little bit in the different federal states);

Christmas Holidays:

24 December till 6 January;

Semester break:

one week in February (beginning and end vary in the different federal states);

Easter Holidays:

Palm Sunday till Tuesday after Easter Monday
